First Look of The Mahindra Thar Roxx Front Profile

Mahindra is all set to launch the new Thar Roxx, essentially the 5-door version of the Thar, on August 15, 2024. But ahead of its launch, the carmaker has shown us a clear image of its front profile, which has a few distinguished elements from its smaller counterpart.

New Front Facia

The most distinguished element is its new six-slat grille, divided into two sections. For reference, the existing 3-door Thar sports a seven-slat grille. The SUV also features a new LED projector headlamp setup with integrated C-shaped LED DRLs, while the placement of the fog lamps and side indicators remains unchanged.

What Else Do We Know About The Mahindra Thar Roxx?

Going by the previous spy shots and teaser images/videos, the Thar Roxx will also boast the following changes and new features: โ€“

  • New dual-tone alloy wheels
  • Elongated wheelbase
  • An extra pair of door, with C-pillar mounted door handles
  • Dual-tone interior scheme with leather upholstery
  • Floating 10.25-inch AdrenoX powered touchscreen infotainment
  • Wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto
  • Digital driverโ€™s display
  • Auto AC
  • Ventilated front seats
  • Harmon Kardon sound system
  • Panoramic sunroof (a single-pane sunroof could also be offered in mid-spec variants)
  • Six airbags
  • Front & rear parking sensors
  • 360-degree camera
  • Multiple driving modes

and

  • Level-2 ADAS

Whatโ€™s underneath the hood?

Mahindra is expected to offer the bigger Thar Roxx with the existing Tharโ€™s 2-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engine options; albeit in a higher state of tunes. Transmission options are expected to remain unchanged, comprising a 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic unit. It is also likely to be offered in both rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and 4-wheel-drive (4WD) configurations.

Expected Price and Rivals

We believe Mahindra will price the Thar Roxx from around Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it against the Force Gurkha 5-door. It will also serve as a premium alternative to the Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
