Mahindra BE 6 and XUV 9e Lower Variants May Get 79 kWh Battery Option

Ever since their debuts, the Mahindra BE 6 and XUV 9e have received a huge buyers’ responses. As of now, the carmaker has delivered over 6,300 units of these electric SUVs since deliveries began in March this year. Interestingly, over 75% of the total bookings of these SUVs are for the range-topping Pack Three variants, which come with the larger 70 kWh battery. To offer more flexibility, Mahindra now plans to offer this bigger battery on lower variants too, which will help the brand to streamline the variant lineup.

For those unaware, Mahindra planned a phased delivery schedule for the BE 6 and XUV 9e. As mentioned above, deliveries for the Pack Three variants began in March this year. On the other hand, deliveries of the mid-spec Pack Three Select will start in June. For Pack Two, buyers must wait until July to commence their deliveries, and for Pack One and Pack One Above, you need to wait until August.

Reports suggest that the majority of buyers are opting for the top-end Pack Three variant, mainly due to range preference. Therefore, Mahindra is now thinking of introducing the larger battery pack option with the lower variants as well. The company thinks this will attract more buyers and help the brand to increase its sales. It also expects that the demand for lower-spec trims will rise once these models are available for public displays and test drives at dealerships.

As of now, the lower variants of the Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e use 59 kWh battery pack, paired with the rear-axle mounted motor, which produces lower power output than the higher-end trims. Here’s a look at their specifications: –
