Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd. has introduced a new ‘Metallic Red’ color scheme for its most popular entry-level sports bike in India, the YZF-R15 Version 3.0. The new color edition is priced at Rs 1,52,100 (ex-showroom Delhi). With this, the R15 V3.0 is now available in a total of four color options, including the Thunder Grey, Racing Blue, and Dark Knight. Here's the complete price list of all colors model: –

As the above table indicates, the new Red shade is priced similarly to the Thunder Grey scheme. Compared to the Dark Knight ivory, it is Rs 2,100 less expensive.

In our opinion, the new red color scheme giving the bike a bit more energetic look and enhancing the overall dynamic appeal. It features red finishing on the front fairing, fuel tank, and the trim below the pillion seat. It also gets black alloy wheels with red rim stickers. However, the cowl located above the headlamp has a contrast Grey shade.

Besides the new ivory, the YZF-R15 Version 3.0 in ‘Metallic Red’ retains the standard features and specifications of the model. Powering this entry-level sports bike is the same 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled Variable Valve Actuation (VVA)-equipped motor that makes out 18.6PS of power at 10,000rpm and 14.1Nm of torque at 8,500rpm. It comes with a 6-speed gearbox with an assist & slipper (A&S) clutch, which acts as both a back-torque limiter and a self-servo mechanism that enables a lighter clutch lever pull and reduces the engine braking effect thus preventing sudden forces to damage the transmission.

Underpinnings of the Yamaha R15 comprises a deltabox frame suspended on a telescopic front fork and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock with an aluminium swingarm. Braking duties are taken care of by a 282mm disc up front and a 220mm disc at the rear with dual-channel ABS. Some key features of the bike include a twin LED headlamp and tail lamp, dual horn, and a multi-function full-LCD instrument cluster with gear position indicator, fuel consumption indicator, and shift timing light. It also gets a side stand engine cut-off switch which prevents engine ignition till the side stand is withdrawn.

The Yamaha R15 V3.0 doesn't have any direct rival in the Indian market. However, in the entry-level sports segment, the KTM RC 125 (Rs 1.62 lakh) and Bajaj Pulsar RS200 (Rs 1.51 lakh) can be considered its only alternatives.
