Bookings for the next-generation Maruti Suzuki Celerio have been commenced officially for a token amount of Rs 11,000. It is expected to be launched on November 10.
Maruti has revealed that the new Celerio will come with Swift's 1.2-litre DualJet petrol engine, featuring the Idle Start-Stop function that will make it India's most efficient petrol car. While the brand is yet to reveal its engine output, it will be paired with either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT). Besides, it could continue to get its existing 68PS 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine along with an optional factory-fitted CNG kit.
Expected to be based on Maruti's fifth-generation Heartact platform as the WagonR, the new Maruti Celerio will be longer and wider than the current model. It is likely to get 313-liters of boot space, which is 78-litres more than the ongoing model.
Our source has suggested that Maruti will offer the new Celerio in four broad trims: LXi, VXi, ZXi, and ZXi+. The last three variants will get an optional AMT unit.
In terms of features, the 2021 Maruti Celerio will get a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Suzuki Connect tech, push-button engine start-stop, a new steering wheel with audio & telephony controls, a single-pod instrument cluster with a circular digital readout, height-adjustable driver’s seat, electronically adjustable outside rear-view mirrors, central locking with keyless entry, 60:40 rear split seat, day/night IRVM, rear defogger, rear washer & wiper, etc.
Passenger's safety will be taken care of by dual-front airbags, a speed alert system, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and much more.
Expect the new Celerio to be priced between Rs 4.7 lakh to Rs 6.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will resume its competition with the likes of Hyundai Santro, Tata Tiago, and Datsun GO.
