Yamaha Fascino 125 Hybrid Finally Goes On Sale In India

Showcased during the launch of the FZ-X, the Yamaha Fascino 125 Hybrid has finally been launched in India, becoming the first hybrid scooter of the country. Offered in two variants: Drum (Rs 70,000) and Disc (Rs 76,530), the brand has priced the scooter quite aggressively, making the base-spec Drum variant Rs 2,030 more affordable than the outgoing entry-level variant. However, the top-spec Disc variant commands a premium of Rs 1,000 over the previous DLX Disc trim. The scooter will hit showrooms by the end of July month.

2021 Yamaha Fascino 125 FI Hybrid – What's New?

The Fascino 125 Hybrid receives a host of new features and colors options. But the most significant update is the hybrid technology that now comes with the existing 125cc single-cylinder air-cooled fuel-injected (FI) engine. The hybrid system of the updated Fascino essentially provides a power assist with the help of a Smart Motor Generator (SMG) that act as an electric motor (torque assisting motor) when you twist the throttle from the standstill, reducing the anxiety caused by the wobble during start-outs in tandem riding or during uphill climbs.

With this, the torque output of the engine has also gone up from 9.7Nm to 10.3Nm; however, the power output is the same as before (8.2PS). Also, it is important to note that the power assist function automatically turns off after three seconds once the scooter starts moving, or when the throttle is cut back, or the engine rpm passes a prescribed level.

As for features, the new Fascino 125 gets an all-LED headlamp, LED tail lamp, and a new fully-digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth-based smartphone connectivity function via Yamaha Motorcycle Connect X App. This enables the rider to access various functions like hazard lamps, locating the parked scooter, riding history, answer back, parking records, and more. However, these features are only limited to the Disc variant. Besides, the new Fascino also receives an optional USB charging port for added convenience.

The other notable features of the scooter are an automatic start/stop system for improved fuel efficiency, foldable utility hook, a generous 21-liter underseat storage, side-stand engine cut-off function, a silent starter, and Combined-Braking System (CBS).

Styling-wise, the Fasicno 125 remains identical to the previous model. However, the brand has introduced three new colors – Vivid Red Special, Matt Black Special, and Cool Blue Metallic, alongside the existing body shades – Dark Matt Blue, Suave Copper, Vivid Red, Yellow Cocktail, Cyan Blue, and Metallic Black.
