India Bound Facelifted Hyundai Creta Revealed At 2022 Thailand Motor Show

  • The 2022 Hyundai Creta with mid-life cycle facelift update is expected to be launched by mid-2022.
  • Key design changes can be seen on the front facia. These incudes new grille with integrated LED DRLs, redesigned LED headlamps, and a revised front bumper. 
  • Will receive some features like a bigger 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and Hyundai’s SmartSense driver assists.

Hyundai has revealed the facelift version of Creta at the ongoing Thailand Motor Show 2022 (Bangkok International Motor Show). Earlier, it was also showcased at the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) last year. It is expected to arrive in India by mid-2022.

The mid-life facelift update of the second-generation Hyundai Creta brings lots of cosmetical changes along with several new features. It borrows styling cues from the new Hyundai Tucson that includes an all-new â€˜Parametric Jewel’ grille with seamlessly integrated hidden-type daytime running lamps (DRLs), vertically stacked LED headlamps, and redesigned bumper with wide air intakes for better cooling.

While the side profile of the car remains completely unchanged, the rear gets a revised tailgate with sharp creases and slightly updated LED tail lamps. It has also dumped the LED light bar placed between the tail lamps.

Fun Fact: Our sources have told us that Hyundai India had the option of opting for this new grille with the second generation Creta. However, the idea was dropped to keep the prices in check.

Interior and Features

Talking about the interior, the facelifted Creta will get the same dashboard layout as the ongoing model. However, it could adopt an all-black theme, while the advanced features include a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster from the Hyundai Alcazar, new ambient lighting, and camera-based active safety features (Hyundai’s SmartSense driver assists) such as blind-spot monitoring with collision avoidance, lane centering assist, lane keep assist, forward safety, etc.

Engine and Gearbox

In terms of the mechanicals, the 2022 Hyundai Creta facelift is expected to get its existing 140PS 1.4-liter turbocharged petrol, and 115PS 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines. Currently, the petrol and diesel motors get a 6-speed manual as standard, along with the option of CVT and 6-speed torque converter automatic, respectively. On the other hand, the turbo-gasoline mill comes with a standard 7-speed DCT. 

With the facelift update, the SUV could get a 6-speed iMT (clutchless manual transmission) with its 1.5-liter petrol and diesel units.
