2021 Ford EcoSport Facelift Spied Undisguised For The First Time; Launch Expected Soon

The Ford EcoSport is about to complete almost a decade in the Indian market without getting any generational updates. However, the American manufacturer has been giving it mid-life updates from time to time to keep things fresh. And now the company is all set to give it another facelift update which has been spied testing once again, but it wasn't wearing any camouflage this time.

Going by the latest spy images, minor cosmetic changes can be seen on the front of the car. It gets a revised front grille with new inserts and chrome surrounds. Its bumper design has also been tweaked and you’ll observe a prominent black finishing on its lower side with a wider central air dam, redesigned skid plate and inverted L-shaped LED DRLs cum indicators along with new fog lamps housing. Besides, this new golden colour option visible in the above image is also on the list.

The rear features a new skid plate, and the tailgate-mounted dual-spoke machined spare wheel reveals that it will also get new alloy wheels.

The interior of the sub-4m SUV is yet to be seen, but we are not suspecting any significant changes inside the cabin save for some additional features. It is likely to get a new colour upholstery, a wireless mobile charger and an updated infotainment system. Apart from this, the EcoSport will retain most of the features from the ongoing model that majorly includes automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, FordPass connected car technology, an electric sunroof, auto climate control, multi-function steering wheel, tire pressure monitoring system, paddle shifters, cruise control, up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, hill launch assist, ISOFIX child seat anchors, electronic stability control (ESC), and rear parking sensors with camera.

Under the hood, the facelifted Ford EcoSport will proceed with the ongoing 1.5-litre petrol (122PS/149Nm) and 1.5-litre diesel engines (100PS/215Nm). However, the diesel motor could get a new 6-speed manual transmission instead of the existing 5-speed unit. This will help to increase its fuel efficiency on the motorways. On the other hand, the gasoline mill will continue to be available with the choice of a 5-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission as before.

The 2021 Ford EcoSport is likely to be launched soon. Expect it to carry a slight premium over the ongoing model that retails between Rs 8.19 lakh to Rs 11.69 lakh (both ex-showroom). Once launched, it will rekindle its rivalry with the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Kia Sonet, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Nissan Kicks, Tata Nexon, Renault Kiger, Honda WR-V and the Mahindra XUV300.
