Yamaha Motor India has finally brought its global-spec Aerox 155 scooter to our shores. It's a performance-oriented 155cc maxi-styled scooter that shares its engine specifications with the R15 motorcycle, which has also received a significant update today. It has been priced at Rs 1,29,000 for the standard color model, whereas its Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Edition will set you back by Rs 1,30,500 (both prices, ex-showroom Delhi). It will go up against the Aprilia SXR 160 in the Indian market.

Yamaha Aerox 155 has been specially designed for the young buyers. It looks quite sporty thanks to its aggressively styled front facia and a bunch of sharp body panels. It features twin LED headlamps, hazard lights, a mobile charging socket in the glove box (optional), a full LCD instrumentation cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, keyless operation, and a large 24.5-liter underseat storage space that is good enough to accommodate an XL size full-face helmet.
Unlike the flat floorboards found on conventional scooters, the Aerox 155 uses this space for its 5.5-liter fuel tank tunnel. That means, while riding it, you have to keep your feet on both ends like a motorbike.
The Yamaha Aerox 155 rides on 14-inch wheels with a front disc and rear drum braking setup as standard, assisted by a single-channel Antilock Braking System (ABS). It weighs 122kg and has an easily approachable seat height of 790mm.
Powering the Aerox 155 is the same155cc liquid-cooled VVA-equipped single-cylinder engine as the R15 V3 and MT-15. However, the India-spec model has been detuned to produce 14.95PS and 13.9Nm, which is 3.25PS and 0.3Nm less than the aforementioned bikes. Besides, it also gets an idle start-stop system for improved fuel economy and even a smart motor generator that ensures silent starts.
