Volvo C40 Recharge Gets Expensive; XC40 Petrol Discontinued

Last month, the Volvo C40 Recharge was launched at a price tag of Rs 61.25 lakh (ex-showroom). Now, its introductory pricing period has finally come to an end, as the carmaker has increased its price by Rs 1.70 lakh, making it cost Rs 62.95 lakh (ex-showroom).

Volvo has also announced that it has secured 100 bookings for the C40 Recharge so far, which is a promising figure given its segment. Deliveries for this EV are already underway.

Volvo XC40 Discontinued

In light of the increasing demand for its EVs, Volvo has now discontinued the petrol-powered XC40 SUV from its India lineup.

Those who are planning to buy the XC40 Recharge can avail of the special Festive Delight Offer, which comprises discounts of up to Rs 1.7 lakh, along with three years of complimentary service and extended warranty. However, please note that this offer will be available for a limited time and while the stocks last.

Volvo C40 Recharge – A Quick Review

The Volvo C40 Recharge is essentially a coupe version of the XC40 Recharge SUV, which features a sloping roofline merging into the rear windscreen. The rest of the styling bits are identical to the electrified XC40 SUV.

Powering the C40 Recharge is a dual-motor AWD setup, linked with a 78kWh battery pack, delivering a combined output of 408PS and 660Nm with a 40:60 power ratio, enabling it to do the 100kmph run from a standstill in just 4.7 seconds. It claims a driving range of up to 530 km on a single charge.

Regarding features, Volvo has packed the C40 Recharge with the following notable equipment: –

  • A portrait-style 9-inch touchscreen with Android OS and in-built Google Maps and Google Assistant
  • A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster
  • Dual-zone climate control
  • Powered front seats with heating & cooling function
  • Memory function for driver’s seat
  • 13-speaker Harman Kardon sound system
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Wireless smartphone charging
  • 360-degree camera
  • Multiple airbags
  • Hill-assist
  • ADAS tech, comprising dynamic cruise control, lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring system, parking assistant, etc.

In the premium EV segment, the Volvo C40 goes up against the Kia EV6 and Hyundai IONIQ-5.
