Volkswagen Virtus Gets A New GT DSG Automatic Variant

Soon after launching the new GT Plus manual variant, Volkswagen India has now introduced a new & more affordable GT DSG variant at Rs 16.19 lakh (ex-showroom), making it the most affordable 1.5-litre variant.

Let’s take a look at how the new GT DSG trim is positioned in the Virtus’s Performance Line lineup: –

  • The newly launched Viruts GT DSG variant is priced similarly to the Topline 1-litre automatic variant.
  • It is Rs 70,000 more affordable than the GT Plus manual and Rs 2.37 lakh than the GT Plus DSG trim.
  • Design-wise, the new Volkswagen Virtus GT DSG trim looks similar to the GT Plus variant, featuring a GT badge on the exterior, red finish on the front brake callipers, a black rear spoiler, red ambient lighting inside the cabin, and GT-themed upholstery.
  • When it comes to features, the Volkswagen Virtus GT DSG trim is equipped with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, an 8-speaker sound system, a wireless mobile charger, cruise control, a cooled glovebox, rear AC vents, and a powered side mirror.
  • For safety, it gets over 40 safety features, including dual front airbags, 3-point seatbelts, ABS with EBD, tyre pressure monitoring system, a reversing camera, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and a rear defogger. 
  • Compared to the GT Plus variant, it misses out on an electric sunroof, leather seats, a digital instrument cluster, an electrochromic rearview mirror, auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, and side & curtain airbags.

  • Powering the new Virtus GT DSG trim is the 150PS 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. It also benefits from Active Cylinder Technology that shuts off two of four cylinders in low load conditions to ensure optimum fuel efficiency.
  • Volkswagen also offers a 115PS 1-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine with the sedan’s Dynamic Line variant lineup that can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
  • In the mid-size sedan segment, the Volkswagen Virtus goes up against the Honda City, Maruti Ciaz, Skoda Slavia and Hyundai Verna.
