VinFast, the Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer, which forayed into the Indian market this year with the launch of VF6 and VF7, is now planning to enter India’s electric two-wheeler market. The brand is reported to launch its first electric two-wheelers in India in the second quarter of the next financial year. As of now, India’s electric 2-wheeler market is dominated by TVS, Bajaj, Ather, Vida and Ola Electric.
“We believe that the Indian market has huge potential for electric two-wheelers. We have a plan to launch two-wheelers in India in 2026. We are in the process of collecting inputs and feedback to launch our two-wheelers in India. Many of the current dealers have expressed their keen interest in becoming a dealer for two-wheelers.” VinFast Asia Chief Executive Officer Pham Sanh Chau said.
VinFast Electric Two-Wheeler Portfolio
Currently, VinFast has six electric two-wheelers in its portfolio, sold in various international markets. These include five electric scooters (Vento S, Feliz S, Theon S, Klara S, Evo200) and one electric bicycle (DrgnFly). All of these were showcased at the 2025 Auto Expo. Expect VinFast to launch some of them in the Indian market. They are expected to be manufactured locally.

Electric Buses Under Consideration
VinFast is also planning to introduce its electric buses in India via the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) or Completely Built Units (CBU) routes. Chau revealed that the company is in talks with State Transport undertakings of various states, including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana, to secure orders for its buses.
For those unaware, VinFast has already committed to invest $2 billion (around Rs 16,000 crore) in India, with $500 million already allocated to setting up its manufacturing plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. The plant currently has an annual production capacity of 50,000 electric cars, which can be expanded up to 1.50 lakh units. However, the company hasn’t shared specific investment or manufacturing details for its electric 2-wheelers and buses.
