Upcoming Kia KY 6/7-Seater MPV To Be Revealed On December 16

Kia will globally unveil its upcoming three-row MPV (codenamed KY) on December 16th, 2021. It is likely to be known as 'Carens' and will be the fourth offering from the Korean automaker in India. Kia says that the KY MPV will be “a Recreational Vehicle that will redefine family commuting”. It is expected to share its underpinning with the Seltos SUV.

Revealed by tons of spy shots, the upcoming Kia MPV will share its styling cues from the brand's current models like the Seltos and the Sonet. However, its silhouette would be similar to that of a conventional MPV. It is likely to be offered in both 6-and 7-seat layouts. While the former will get captain seats, the latter will feature bench seats for middle-row occupants.

Similar to other Kia vehicles, the upcoming MPV will also be generously loaded with premium features like a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with UVO connected car technology, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, digital driver's display, in-built air purifier, a wireless phone charger, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a Bose sound system, a 360-degree camera, passive keyless entry with push-button start, up to six airbags, electronic stability control, front & rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring, and a blind spot monitoring system, etc.

The Kia KY is expected to be powered by the Seltos’s 115PS 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines. Transmission options are likely to include a 6-speed manual as standard along with an optional 6-speed torque converter automatic for diesel and CVT automatic for petrol mill. It could also get Alcazar's 159PS 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine.
