Ultraviolette Automotive has introduced a new battery subscription model called “Battery Flex” for the X-47 and F77 motorcycles to make them more affordable for buyers. Introduced in partnership with Ecofy (an NBFC), this plan lowers the initial buying cost of the EV by separating the cost of the battery.

  • As the table indicates, customers can now buy the Ultraviolette X-47 for a base of Rs 1.49 lakh, while the battery can be subscribed to at a starting price of Rs 2,499 per month.
  • This battery EMI will have to be paid for over a course of 5 years. After that, the battery ownership will be transferred to them at no additional cost.

Total Cost May Be Higher Over Time

While the battery EMI scheme makes the Ultraviolette bikes easier to buy initially, buyers could end up paying more than the regular price over the long term. For example, the battery EMI for the X-47 Original variant will cost Rs 1,49,940 for five years. Hence, you will end up paying Rs 2,98,940 at the end of the 5th year. That’s nearly Rs 50,000 more than the bike’s ex-showroom price if it is purchased with the battery pack. But since the payment is spread out in smaller monthly amounts, the difference may not feel as significant for buyers opting for the subscription model.
