Triumph Speed T4 Gets More Affordable

Triumph has revised the prices of the Speed T4 in India, making it more accessible than before. Earlier, the bike was priced at Rs 2.17 lakh (ex-showroom) but was offered with a discount of Rs 18,000. The bike maker has now officially reduced its price to Rs 1.99 lakh (ex-showroom). That makes it Rs 41,405 more affordable than the Speed 400.

For those unaware, the Triumph Speed T4 is essentially an affordable version of the Speed 400 with fewer features. It was launched in September 2024 and shares the same 389cc, liquid-cooled engine with the Speed 400; albiet in a lower state of tune. Having said that, it makes 31PS of max power and 36Nm of peak torque, which is 9PS/1.5Nm less than the Speed 400. The engine is linked to a 6-speed gearbox with slip-&-assist clutch.

Aside from lower engine output, the Speed T4 also skips features like traction control, upside-down forks (USD), electronic throttle, and an immobiliser. Instead, the bike gets a conventional telescopic fork and a preload adjustable monoshock. It also replaces the aluminium footpegs for steel ones. The bike rolls on 17-inch alloys, with 110-section front and 140-section rear tyres, with braking taken care of by disk brakes at both ends, with dual-channel ABS. It has a wheelbase of 1406mm and a pretty accessible seat height of 806mm.

Author’s Take

The Triumph Speed T4 stands out as a well-built motorcycle with impressive fit & finish levels. However, competitors like Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z (Rs 1.85 lakh) and Hero Xtreme 250R (Rs 1.79 lakh) offer comparable performance and more features at a more accessible price point. Triumph could have positioned the Speed T4 more competitively by adjusting its pricing, making it a stronger contender in this segment.
