Triumph India has recently expanded its 350cc lineup with the introduction of an all-new Bonneville T40, bringing the iconic Bonneville nameplate to a more accessible segment. While the motorcycle retains the classic styling and character associated with the Bonneville family, the T40 uses the brand’s 350cc platform to make it more approachable for buyers. So, if you’re planning to bring home one, here’s everything you need to know about it: –
Triumph Bonneville T40 Engine Details
Powering the Indian-spec Bonneville T40 is the same 350cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine as the other 350cc Triumphs; however, it has been tuned differently to suit its character. That said, the engine produced 28hp at 7,000 rpm and 31.2Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm. The brand states that the engine also receives several T40-specific changes, such as a revised cylinder head, smaller throttle bodies, a dedicated camshaft and a new peashooter exhaust, resulting in delivering a smooth, effortless ride with strong torque output.
For transmission duties, the engine comes paired with a 6-speed unit, having taller gearing than other 350cc models from the brand’s lineup. It also benefits from a slip-&-assist clutch. The bike claims to deliver a fuel efficiency of approximately 27 km/litre.
Triumph claims it has class-leading service intervals of 16,000km.

Triumph Bonneville T40: Design, Dimensions and Underpinnings
The Bonneville T40 carries the unmistakable design DNA of the larger models in the Bonneville family. Its flowing character lines, balanced proportions and heritage-inspired details create a classic silhouette that is instantly recognisable as a Bonneville. The teardrop fuel tank, round headlamp, longer mudguards and peashooter silencer define the overall shape, while classically styled forks, twin rear shocks and spoked wheels complete the look.
Triumph claims that each Bonneville T40 and T40 Black is finished by hand, with close attention paid to the materials, finishes and smaller details throughout the motorcycle, retaining a traditional technique synonymous with the Bonneville range.
Speaking of the underpinnings, the T40 gets a 43mm gaitered telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers to handle suspension duties, having a wheel travel of 130mm. For braking, it features a 310mm disc at the front with a twin-piston axial calliper and a 255mm rear disc with a single-piston calliper, assisted by lean-sensitive, dual-channel ABS.
True to its Bonneville heritage, the T40 rides on wire-spoke wheels shod with specially developed 100/90-18 front and 150/70-R18 rear tube-type MRF tyres.
Tipping the scales at 195kg, it is one of the heaviest bikes of the Bajaj-built Triumphs in India. It has a fairly accessible seat height of 790mm, which can be further dropped down to 770mm with an accessory low seat, available in black or brown. Its fuel tank capacity stands at 14.5 litres.
