Toyota India is going to launch the Urban Cruiser Hyryder next week. Its bookings are already open for a token amount of Rs 25,000.
Co-developed with Maruti Suzuki, the Toyota Hyryder will be available in four variants: E, S, G, and V. While the base-spec E variant will come only with Suzuki’s 103PS 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine, the latter three will get both mild-hybrid and Toyota’s TNGA 1.5-litre strong-hybrid petrol engine options. Here’s a look at their specifications: –
Engine | 1.5-litre k-series petrol engine with a mild-hybrid system | 1.5-litre TNGA petrol with self-charging strong-hybrid system |
No of Cylinders | 4 | 3 |
Max Power | 102PS | Engine: 92PS Motor: 80.2PS Combined: 115PS |
Peak Torque | 135Nm | Engine: 122Nm Motor: 141Nm |
Transmission Options | 5-speed manual, 6-speed torque converter automatic | e-CVT |
Drivetrain | FWD, AWD (manual only) | FWD |
Claimed Mileage | 21.11 kmpl (MT), 20.58 kmpl (AT), 19.38 kmpl (AWD-MT) | 27.97 kmpl |
It is worth noting that Toyota will be offering the strong hybrid powertrain from the second-from-the-base variant, whereas the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara will offer the same from its second-from-the-top variant. Therefore, we expect the prices of Toyota Hyryder’s strong hybrid trims to start from a lower point than Grand Vitara’s hybrid variants.
