Toyota Hyryder-equivalent Maruti Suzuki Vitara To Reveal On This Date

A new SUV from Maruti Suzuki will be unveiled on July 20 that will possibly be called the ”Vitara” or ”Grand Vitara”. It is essentially Maruti’s version of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder that will be positioned above the recently launched Brezza in the brand’s SUV lineup.

Similarly to the Toyota Hyryder, Maruti’s upcoming Creta challenger will be a petrol-only model with mild-hybrid and strong-hybrid options. That said, it will come with a K-series 1.5-liter petrol engine with a mild-hybrid system, mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission, and a Toyota-derived 1.5-litre TNGA petrol engine, paired with self-charging strong-hybrid system and a single-speed e-CVT transmission. A front-wheel-drivetrain (FWD) is expected to be standard with both engines, whereas the mild-hybrid unit will also get an optional all-wheel-drivetrain (AWD).

Design-wise, the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Vitara will look slightly different from its Toyota derivative. However, its interior design is expected to be largely similar to the Hyryder, save for the color scheme.

In terms of features, the upcoming SUV will be a well-loaded offering with equipment such as a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, connected car tech, panoramic sunroof, digital driver’s display, wireless smartphone charger, auto climate control, ventilated front seats, rear AC vents, up to 6 airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, electronic stability control, and a 360-degree camera.

Expect Maruti to begin its bookings soon. Once launched, it will go up against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, MG Astor, and of course the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
