Tata Punch EV Likely To Get A Bigger Battery Pack; Launch Tomorrow

The facelifted Tata Punch EV is all set to go on sale tomorrow, and as revealed by teasers, the updated SUV will receive subtle styling changes and a host of new features. While it is not official, the electrified Punch is also likely to get a new & bigger battery pack. For reference, the outgoing Punch gets two battery pack options: 25kWh and 35kWh.

For those unaware, Tata Motors has recently uploaded some range test videos on their official YouTube channel, clocking up to 596 km range from the new Punch EV. While these are some unreliastic claims, it suggests that the facelifted SUV will come kitted with a larger battery pack; however, the exact capacity is unknown at the moment.

The new battery pack is expected to be offered alongside the existing 25 kWh and 35 kWh units. Both of these units come paired with a front-axle-mounted motor, producing a max output of 82PS/114Nm and 122PS/190Nm, respectively. Expect the new battery to come mated to a more powerful front motor.

Speaking of the design changes, the Punch EV facelift gets a new bumper featuring a new triangular-shaped headlamp cluster and a wider housing for air dams. However, the Y-shaped LED DRLs and centrally mounted charging flap will remain unchanged. The updated SUV also gets updated aero-optimised alloy wheels, new ‘Tata.ev’ branding on the front doors, connected tail lamps and a revised rear bumper.

Inside, things will remain largely unchanged, save for the new colour scheme and trim finishes. It will also get a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment, replacing the current 10.25-inch unit. It is also likely to get new seat upholstery with extended thigh support for front seats and a level-2 ADAS suite.
