Tata Punch Bookings Commenced At Dealership Level; Launch Expected Soon

Select Tata dealerships across the country have started accepting unofficial bookings for the upcoming Punch micro-SUV for a booking amount ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 21,000. It is expected to be launched in the coming weeks.

Tata Punch bookings

The Tata Punch is based on the same ALFA-ARC platform as the Altroz hatchback and carries the brand’s Impact 2.0 design philosophy. It is likely to be 3,840 mm long, 1,822 mm wide, and 1,635 mm tall. It is expected to have a wheelbase of 2,450mm. Styling-wise, its upright front fascia with the split-projector headlamps and the DRLs running along the bonnet are reminiscent of the Harrier, while the tri-arrow mesh on the air dams and grille, a tri-arrow LED tail lamps and strong creases & body are inspired by the Nexon.

Tata Punch will largely share its equipment list with the Altroz. So, it will come with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, iRA connected car technology, a semi-digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, height-adjustable driver's seat, keyless entry with push-button start, a flat-bottom multifunction steering wheel, cruise control, and much more. Additionally, the Punch will also get multiple driving and traction control modes. While the brand hasn't specified these modes, it is likely to get City, Sport, and Eco drive modes, along with Normal, Wet, and Rough terrain modes that will ensure maximum driving performance in all conditions. Besides, it is also expected to get traction control, corner stability control, and segment-first hill descent & hill start assist.

Tata Punch interior and features

Tata is likely to equip the Punch with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (86PS/113Nm) coupled to either a 5-speed manual or an AMT, and a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol (110PS/140Nm) motor with 5-speed manual transmission only.

The Punch will be positioned below the Nexon in Tata's SUV lineup and could retail between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom). When launched, it will go up against the Mahindra KUV100 NXT and Maruti Suzuki Ignis.
