Tata Gravitas 7-Seater SUV Spotted Without Camouflage

7-Seater Harrier aka the Gravitas is undoubtedly the most-awaited SUV from homegrown Tata Motors in India since it was showcased in its near-production form at the 2020 Auto Expo held in February this year. It was supposed to be launch in the first half of FY2020-21; however, the launch timeline was shifted to early 2021 due to the COVID-19 epidemic. Over the past few months, the Tata Gravitas has been spotted many times during testing, and we have seen a lot of spy photographs of the SUV. Now, a new image of this upcoming Tata SUV has been leaked online, and that too without camouflage.

The new image gives a fair view of Gravitas's rear profile. Compared to the 5-seater Tata Harrier, it has a slightly different rear-end with a redesigned tailgate, large rear windscreen, a brawnier rear bumper, updated LED tail lamps with connecting chrome strips, and 'Gravitas" embossed nameplate.

The clear images of the front & side profile of the car are yet to be seen. But we believe that it will get some styling tweaks on the front, and side as well, for distinguishing the two SUVs.

On the inside, Gravitas's dashboard layout will be similar to the Harrier; however, it can get a new cream-colored cabin theme. And, on the dashboard, it might feature a dark matte wood central panel. The Gravitas is likely to come in both 6 and 7-seater options. The 6-seater version of the SUV will feature two captain seats in the second row.

As far as the features are concerned, Tata Gravitas could get a few new features over the Harrier SUV such as electronic parking brakes, connected car technology, bigger alloy wheels, dedicated AC vents in the third row with blower control, etc. Besides this, all the features of Harrier will be carried forward in the Gravitas. It mainly includes an 8.8-inch floating infotainment system with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay smartphone connectivity, voice recognition, JBL speakers, a 7-inch instrument panel, leather seat upholstery, three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, smart-entry with push engine start/stop button, height-adjustable driver's seat, auto AC, auto-dimming IRVM, multiple airbags, hill hold control, hill descent control, ISOFIX child seat mounting, ESP with roll-over mitigation & corner stability control, traction control, etc.

Engine

Under the hood, the Gravitas will house a BS6-compliant Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine, which also powers the Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass, MG Hector & Hector Plus SUVs. In Harrier, this engine develops 170PS of maximum power and 350Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual & a Hyundai-sourced torque converter automatic gearbox. Tata could also offer a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with the Gravitas.

The upcoming Tata flagship will lock horns with the 6-seater MG Hector Plus, and the upcoming second-gen Mahindra XUV500 & 7-seater Hyundai Creta. MG Motors will also launch the 7-seater version of Hector SUV by the end of January 2021.
