Tata Motors has commenced deliveries of the recently launched Tiago and Tigor CNG across the nation. The greener hatchback retails from RS 6.10 lakh to Rs 7.53 lakh, while the eco-friendly sub-4m sedan is priced from Rs 7.7 lakh to Rs 8.3 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). They command a premium of around Rs 90,000 over their petrol counterparts.
Both the Tata Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG are powered by the same 86PS/113Nm 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder, petrol engine as their regular variants. However, they come with a factory-fitted CNG kit that has a tank capacity of around 10 kilograms. This eco-friendly powertrain is claimed to offer an ARAI-tested fuel economy of 26.49km/kg. Also, the power and torque output drop to 73PS and 95Nm when running in CNG mode. Transmission duties are taken care of by a 5-speed manual unit.

Speaking of the variants, the Tiago CNG comes in four variants: XE, XM, XT, and XZ+, while the Tigor CNG is available with the range-topping XZ and XZ+ variants.
In the Indian market, the Tiago CNG goes up against the CNG version of the Hyundai Santro, Maruti WagonR, and Celerio. On the other side, the Tata Tigor CNG locks horns with the Hyundai Aura CNG and the upcoming Maruti Dzire CNG.
