Tata Altroz Turbo Unofficial Booking Open Ahead Of 13th January Launch

Tata Motors is all set to launch the turbocharged petrol variants of Altroz premium hatchback on 13th January 2021. While the homegrown carmaker is yet to announce the official bookings of the car, dealers in select cities across the country have started accepting its unofficial pre-launch bookings for a token amount of Rs 5,000. The Turbo variants will mark Altroz's entry more prominently into the hotly contested premium hatchback segment.

According to reports, the Tata Altroz Turbo will be offered with a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine from Nexon sub-4m SUV. However, in the Altroz, this engine is likely to be turned down to produce around 110PS of power and 140Nm of peak torque, whereas the Nexon Petrol generates 120PS and 170Nm. This engine is likely to be available with a 5-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCT) gearbox options. The Altroz will be the first offering from the Tata Motors to be offered with a DCT transmission, which is sourced from Punch, while the gear shifter & some of its parts will be supplied by Lumax and Schaeffler.

In terms of design, the spied test mule & the teaser images suggested that the Altroz Turbo is unlikely to receive any cosmetic changes save for the 'Turbo' emblem on the lower side of the tailgate. Besides this, the brand will also introduce a new Marina Blue color exterior paint scheme, exclusively for the Altroz turbo variants.

Tata is expected to launch Altroz turbo in four variants: XT, XT(O) (NEW), XZ, and XZ(O) on a premium of around Rs 1-1.5 lakh over the current naturally aspirated petrol variants, which are priced between Rs 5.44 lakh and Rs 8.95 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Once launched, the Altroz Turbo will face competition from the Hyundai i20 Turbo and Volkswagen Polo TSI.
