About Skoda Vision In

Deisgn

This car will be the first offering from Skoda to be built on the MQB-A0-IN platform. On the outside, it has the standard Skoda design elements with a big butterfly grille on the front with vertical slats. The grille rests between very sleek LED headlamps with integrated DRLs. The front bumper with black cladding adds a rugged character to Skoda’s elegance. And it has sharp curves as standard in Skoda cars resulting in a clean, elegant design and that is where Skoda really excels.

Engine

Under the hood, The Skoda Vision IN will get a 1.5-litre TSi petrol engine that produces a maximum power output 150BHP churning out torque figures of 250Nm. This comes with a 7 speed DSG gearbox.

The lower-spec variants might feature a smaller 1.0-liter TSI petrol engine, which also powers Skoda Rapid, it churns out a power equivalent of 110BHP and torque output of 175 Nm. This engine in all likelihood will feature both automatic and manual gearboxes.

Author’s Take

This is one of those products which surely packs in the punch to define the course of the market. In this case, it will take on remarkable competitors like the Creta, Kia’s Seltos and its sibling from Volkswagen, The Taigun (upcoming).

The car holds extra significance with Skoda’s emphasis on the fact that it is made exclusively to the preference of an Indian consumer. This is a project under the India 2.0 initiative.

Another fact that speaks volumes of its criticality for the Czech Carmaker is its positioning, In the existing line-up Skoda India line-up it will be slotted just above Rapid, which is Skoda’s best selling car in the country. Also, with the craze of compact SUVs rocketing sky high of late, the company will have high hopes riding on Vision.
