River Indie Gen 3 Electric Scooter Launched at Rs 1.46 Lakh

River EV has launched the 3rd generation iteration of the Indie electric scooter in India, bringing new features, improved connectivity and updated tyres. However, it continues to be priced at Rs 1,45,999 (ex-showroom Delhi).

New Tyres

The most significant change to the Rider Indie comes in the form of new tyres from Ceat, which are claimed to provide better grip than before. These new tyres feature an 11mm 11mm taller sidewall, which should translate into improved ride quality. They also get upgraded internal cord materials that help absorb road impacts more effectively and extend the tyres’ lifespan.

Minor Improvements

River EV has also revised the layout of the 6-inch LCD console for better reliability. In addition, the app interaction is said to have been improved and now offers ride statistics, hill-hold assist, real-time charging information and customisable data points.

Underpinnings Remain Unchanged

Apart from the above-mentioned updates, the River Indie Gen 3 remains unchanged. It continues to ride on 14-inch alloy wheels, suspended on telescopic suspensions with hydraulic dampers at the front and coil springs with hydraulic dampers in the rear. The electric scooter is built on a steel tubular dual cradle frame. Braking duties are handled by 200mm disc brakes at both ends, assisted by a combined braking system with adaptive regeneration.

River Indie Gen 3: Battery, Range and Charging Time

Powering the River Indie EV is a 4 kWh battery pack that provides charge to the mid-drive PMSM motor. The power is sent to the rear wheels via a chain drive system. It claims an IDC range of 163 km. However, its true range varies between 70 km to 110 km, depending on the riding mode.

River Indie Gen 3: Key Features

The other key features of the Indie include LED twin beam with position lamp, LED frosted tube, LED indicators, USB charging port, parking assist, boot lamp and three riding modes (Eco, Ride, and Rush). The scooter has 43 litres of underseat storage, along with a 12-litre glovebox, providing ample space to store your everyday essentials like a helmet, charger and small personal items.

Competitors

The River Indie locks horns with the Ather Rizta, Hero Vida, TVS Orbiter, Bajaj Chetak, and the Ola S1 Pro.
