PM Modi Lays Foundation Of Maruti Suzuki’s Two New Plants

Maruti is celebrating 40 years of its partnership with Suzuki and to mark this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of its upcoming battery manufacturing facility for EVs and vehicle manufacturing facility that will be set up in Hansalpur (Gujarat) and in Kharkhoda (Haryana), respectively. This was done via video conferencing.

Suzuki Motor Corporation also announced the establishment of Suzuki R&D Center India Private Limited (SRDI), which will establish a framework to strengthen its R&D competitiveness and capabilities.

Talking about the upcoming production plants of Maruti Suzuki, the brand will be investing around Rs 10,400 crore for the manufacturing of EVs and batteries at the new Gujarat facility, out of which Rs 7,300 crore will be reserved for the battery manufacturing facility, which will be operational by 2026. However, the EV production unit will be operational from 2025 and will have an annual production capacity of up to 7.5 lakh cars. On the other hand, the Haryana-based facility will have the capacity to produce 10 lakh passenger vehicles every year, making it one of the largest manufacturing facilities in the world.
