Maruti Launched Subscription Based Ownership Programme

Maruti Suzuki has launched a subscription-based ownership programme, which essentially means that the buyers now get the option of driving their favourite Maruti car home, without really paying the entire cost upfront or without even taking a loan for that matter.

While the monthly instalments will cover maintenance and insurance costs, it will not be responsible for taking care of the cost of operating the vehicle. Customers get the choice of subscribing from a minimum of 24 months to a maximum of 48 months. The vehicles procured through the subscription methods will also be entitled to roadside assistance services

Maruti cars on lease subscription

Which Maruti cars will be available on the subscription-basis?

Among the cars sold under the arena banner, Maruti will be offering certain variants of its popular offerings like Swift, Dzire, Vitara Brezza and Ertiga. However, it is important to note that if you want to opt for an automatic car, the only choices available are Ertiga and Brezza.

Among the Premium Nexa offerings, Baleno, Ciaz and XL6 get the option of subscription-based ownership. Gladly, the subscription scheme for both manual and automatic gearbox variants are available with all three cars.

The buyers will also get the option of upgrading car in the midst of their subscription plan, but Maruti and the subscription partner Orix are yet to provide additional information on that matter.

Price

Subscription price depends on a number of factors-

  1. The place where the services will be availed. As of now, these services are available only in Bengaluru and Gurugram.
  2. The variant of the car chosen and also the model of the car that you have opted for.
  3. The time period for which you want to avail the benefits of subscription-based ownership.

Author’s Take

The COVID-19 times were bound to bring some of the unprecedented changes, it is great to see that the companies are keeping up. With the launch of a host of impressive schemes, automobile companies are in no mood to cut any slack whatsoever.

Maruti Suzuki has put his hand forward for a number of helpful ventures. With the launch of buy now, pay later scheme; collaboration with Axis Bank to provide affordable financial solutions and now this particular subscription-based ownership, It is great to see the largest auto manufacturer in India is responding well to the testing times and providing the buyers with different options to ease out the process of owning a car.

I still believe that though the initiative is great, I found the prices a bit on the higher side, With reduced subscription charges this step from Maruti could really have pioneered the subscription-based car ownership pattern in the country.
