New Skoda Kodiaq L&K vs Sportline: Differences Explained

Latest Update: Skoda India has launched the 2025 Kodiaq in India with prices starting from Rs 46.89 lakh (ex-showroom). Head here for more details.

Skoda is all set to launch the new-gen Kodiaq in India tomorrow as the brand’s flagship SUV. It will be offered in two variants: Sportline and L&K (Laurin and Klement). In this story, let’s understand how these two variants differ from each other: –

New Skoda Kodiaq L&K vs Sportline: Exterior Styling

  • The main difference between the Sportline and L&K variants is in the exterior styling.
  • While the Sportline gets a blacked-out treatment for various parts like front grille, mirrors, D-pillar and tailgate badged, the L&K trim gets chrome touches in these areas, with brushed silver roof rails for a premium appearance. However, body-colored side skirts are exclusive to the Sportline.
  • The L&K variant has a horizontal LED strip inside the grille that connects the headlamps. Sportline misses this feature.
  • Both the variants ride on 18-inch alloy wheels, but with different designs. Sportline gets sporty styled alloys, while the L&K comes with aero-styled covers.
  • Towards the rear, the Sportline features smoked-out tail lamps, whereas the L&K gets clearer lens. Furthermore, the rear bumper comes in checkered design in the Sportline, whereas the L&K has a plain design.

Colour Options

When it comes to colour options, there are 7 shades on offer, with two colours reserved for specific variants to help distinguish them visually. That said, the Bronx Gold Metallic shade is exclusive to the top-spec L&K trim, while the Steel Grey Metallic is reserved solely for the Sportline variant. However, five colour options are common between the two – Moon White Metallic, Magic Black Metallic, Graphite Grey Metallic, Velvet Red Metallic and Race Blue Metallic.

Interior and Features

  • Inside the cabin, the L&K trim execudes a more luxurious vibe with a premium Cognac brown leather upholstery and offers front seats with massage, heating & ventilation functions. On the other hand, the Sportline flaunts a sporty all-black cabin and is kitted with only heated front seats. It misses out the massage and ventilation functions.
  • The common features between the two trims includes a 10.25-inch digital cluster, a larger 13-inch infotainment, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, configurable rotary knobs with built-in displays, wireless charger, three-zone climate control, powered front seats with memory functions, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, park assist, ABS with EBD, ESC and nine airbags.

Powertrain

Powering both the variants of the Skoda Kodiaq is a 2-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that produces 204PS of max power and 320Nm of peak torque. It comes paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which sends power to all four wheels. Skoda claims an ARAI mileage of 14.68 kmpl with it. The same powertrain also powers the newly launched Volkswagen Tiguan R Line.
