MG Motor has taken the social media to announce the arrival of a new generation Hector SUV in India. It will be equipped with a 14-inch portrait touchscreen infotainment system instead of the ongoing 10.4-inch unit. Seems inspired by the latest Mercedes-Benz central consoles, it floats above the new dashboard. Also, it doesn’t get any physical button unlike the current model. Expect the carmaker to introduce more features for the new infotainment system.
While MG hasn’t revealed its launch date, reports are suggesting that the new Hector will arrive around the festive season this year and will be sold alongside the existing model. It could also recieve memory function for the driver’s seat and level-2 ADAS from the MG Astor that comprises features like lane-keep assist, auto emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert and much more. Besides features like all-LED lighting system, auto AC, ventilated seats, 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof, leather seats, etc., will be carried forward from the existing model.

Mechanically, we don’t expect any changes under the hood. It will continue to be powered the same 143PS 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol (with an optional 48V mild-hybrid system) and 170PS 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engines as the existing model. At present, only the petrol mill is available with an optional 8-step CVT automatic, while the 6-speed manual transmission comes standard. The brand could take this opportunity to introduce an automatic unit for the oil burner as well.
