MG Hector and Hector Plus To Get New Variants With Less Safety Features

To make the Astor more affordable, MG Motors has recently added EX variants with fewer safety features to its lineup, and now the carmaker is gearing up to do the same with Hector and Hector Plus duo. However, the changes will be limited to their range-topping Sharp variant only.

Similar to the Astor, the Sharp variant of the MG Hector and Hector Plus might not get safety features like electronic stability control (ESC), hill-hold control, and traction control. However, features like up to six airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, front & rear parking sensors, etc., will continue to be on offer. The reason for launching the Sharp EX variant with fewer safety features is still unknown, but it may have been done to avoid the ongoing chip shortage.

Aside from deleting some safety features, the MG Hector and Hector Plus will remain unchanged. Both the SUVs come with 1.5-litre turbo-petrol (143PS/250Nm) and Jeep-sourced 2.0-liter turbo-diesel (170PS/350Nm) engines, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. The petrol engine also gets an optional 8-speed CVT automatic transmission. The gasoline mill with manual transmission can also be had with a 48V mild-hybrid system.

MG Hector Plus Sharp

The MG duo is currently priced between Rs 19.48 lakh and Rs 20.75 lakh (ex-showroom). With the introduction of Sharp EX variants, their price range will decrease by a decent margin.
