We all know that Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch the next-generation Celerio in the coming months, and it has been spotted testing multiple times on the Indian roads. Now, patent images of the upgraded Celerio have emerged on the web, revealing how the upcoming hatchback will look like.

Compared to the ongoing Maruti Celerio, the design of its next-gen iteration will be completely different and more mature. Upfront, it features a more upright nose, an oval-shaped grille with a honeycomb mesh pattern, and a chrome strip extending to the newly designed triangular-shaped headlights that are rounded at the edges.
The front bumper design has also been revised, giving it a fatter look thanks to the prominent creases on the bumper and the surroundings of the fog lamps that are likely to get contrast black finishing.
From the sides, the new Celerio looks bigger than the existing model, and the minimal straight shoulder line giving it a sleeker look. It also gets redesigned alloy wheels, rounded wheel arches with noticeable hunch linings, a traditional antenna, and a slightly tapered roofline, along with an integrated roof spoiler. Expect it to be underpinned on the same HEARTECT platform as the WagonR.
Complementing the front styling, the rear too gets an upright tailgate, rounded design, wraparound taillamps, and a chunkier bumper featuring horizontal reflector strips.

While the interior of the car still under wraps, the earlier spy shots exposed that it will get a revised dashboard layout decked up in an all-black theme with grey touches here & there.
In terms of features, it is expected to be packed with a 7-inch Smartplay studio touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay & Android Auto support, all power windows, automatic AC, a semi-digital instrument console, multi-function steering wheel, dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors with camera, etc.
Under the hood, we expect the next-gen Celerio to employ the existing 68PS 1.0-liter petrol engine along with a larger 83PS 1.2-liter petrol motor that also powers the Maruti WagonR and Swift. It will continue to get the CNG options with the smaller capacity engine. Transmission options could include both 5-speed manual and AMT units. While it is not official, we suspect the new Celerio could also debut the clutchless manual transmission for the Indo-Japanese brand.
Maruti is expected to launch the new Celerio around the festive season this year at a slight premium over its ongoing model, which retails from Rs 4.41 lakh to Rs 5.68 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will rekindle its rivalry with the Hyundai Santro (Rs 4.73-6.41 lakh), Tata Tiago (Rs 4.99-6.95 lakh), and the Datsun GO (Rs 4.02-6.51 lakh).
