The year 2022 is going to be actioned packed with a slew of new launches and unveils scheduled right from January onwards, and what could be a better way to bring the new period. Here go through of all the cars to watch out for in January 2022: –

1. Skoda Kodiaq Facelift
First up will be the return of Skoda's flagship SUV, the Kodiaq, in a mid-life facelift avatar. Its unofficial bookings have already commenced for a token amount of up to Rs 50,000.
The updated Kodiaq is smarter than before and gets new features like a two-spoke steering wheel, 10-colour ambient lighting, and ventilation, heating, and massage functions for the front seats. It will be powered by a 190PS 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) and an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. Sources hint that it’ll be offered in three variants: Style, Sportline, and Laurin & Klement (L&K), with prices likely to start from Rs 36.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
2. Toyota Hilux
One of the most highly anticipated launches of January 2022 is the Toyota Hilux lifestyle pickup truck that will fight out with the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross. It was recently spotted during an ad shoot in Gurugram.
The Hilux will be based on the same platform as the Innova Crysta. It is likely to be available in two variants – Hilux and Hilux Reo. Features onboard are likely to include bi-beam LED headlamps with DRLs, alloy wheels, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, powered driver’s seat, push-button start, automatic climate control, cruise control, multiple airbags, electronic stability control, hill start/descent assist, etc. Powering the pickup could be 150PS 2.4-liter and 204PS 2.8-liter diesel engines, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Select variants could also get an optional four-wheel drivetrain (4WD) along with an electronic locking differential and a traction control system.

3. Audi Q7 Facelift
The flagship Audi Q7 SUV is due to make a comeback in India in its facelifted avatar this month. Its series production has already begun at its Aurangabad facility and select dealerships are also accepting its unofficial bookings for Rs 3 lakh. Expected to be available in two variants: Premium Plus and Technology, the updated Q7 will receive plenty of exterior upgrades and a more powerful 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine (with a 48V mild-hybrid system), replacing the older 45 TFSI 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo-petrol unit (251PS/370Nm). 4. Tata Tiago and Tigor CNG
The Tata Tiago and Tigor duo are set to get the factory-fitted CNG kit by the end of January 2022. Both models will continue to utilize the ongoing 83PS/113Nm 1.2-liter 3-cylinder petrol engine. However, its engine output will be reduced by a significant margin when running on CNG. Don’t expect any feature addition.
The cleaner fuel is likely to be limited to the Tiago and Tigor’s lower and mid-spec variant. They’re expected to command a premium of around Rs 60,000 over their corresponding petrol variants.
5. Tata Altroz DCT
Tata Altroz is going to complete two years in the Indian market and to mark this occasion the company is likely to offer the turbocharged variant of the hot-hatch with the dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT). Currently, all three engines of the Altroz (1.2-litre NA petrol, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol, and 1.5-litre diesel) come with a sole 5-speed manual transmission.
