Launched in March 2022, the base-spec Excite variant of the MG ZS EV is now available for sale at Rs 22.58 lakh (ex-showroom). Until now, the electrified SUV was only available in its top-spec Exclusive variant, which costs Rs 26.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
MG ZS EV Variant | Price (Ex-Showroom) |
Excite | Rs 22.58 lakh |
Exclusive | Rs 26.50 lakh |
Exclusive Dual Tone | Rs 26.60 lakh |
As the above table indicates, the base-spec Excite variant is Rs 3.92 lakh more affordable than the Exclusive variant. With this price gap, it misses out on the dual-tone cabin (features a grey scheme instead), a 6-way power adjustable driver’s seat, leather seats, panoramic sunroof, wireless smartphone charger, auto-folding function for side mirrors, rear seat armrest with cup holders, seatback pockets, a six-speaker music system (gets 4-speakers instead), and ADAS suite of active safety features that include blind spot warning, lane change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking assist when compared to the range-topping trim.
Nevertheless, features like 17-inch alloy wheels, all-four disc brakes, LED lighting system with automatic headlamps, a 10.1-inch touchscreen system, connected car technology, a digital driver’s display, cruise control, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, six airbags, ABS with EBD, a 360-degree camera, ESC, hill start/descent control, and tire pressure monitoring system have been retained.
Powering the MG ZS EV Excite is the same 50.3kWh li-ion battery pack, mated to a 177PS/280Nm rated electric motor as the Exclusive variant. It offers a claimed range of 461km on a single charge. It also features three levels of regenerative braking that help in minimizing the loss of kinetic energy by converting it into electric energy.
Using a 50kW fast charger, the MG ZS EV can be charged from zero to 80 percent in just one hour, whereas a 7.4kW wall box charger juices up the EV in roughly nine hours.
In the Indian market, the MG ZS EV goes up against the likes of Hyundai Kona Electric.
