MG Motor is all set to unveil the Astor SUV on September 15. But ahead of its official arrival, select MG dealerships have started accepting its pre-bookings for a token amount of Rs. 50,000.
If reports are to be believed the MG Astor will be offered in five variants – Style, Super, Smart, Sharp, and Savvy, and with two engine options – a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol paired to either a manual or continuously variable transmission (CVT), and a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol that is expected to be offered with a 6-speed automatic transmission only. It will come with at least five palettes of monotone colours — White, Red, Orange, Black, and Silver.
As for features, we already know that the MG Astor will get LED DRLs, a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a rear defogger, and a rear washer & wiper as a standard set of equipment across its entire product lineup. Besides, its top-spec Savvy trim will have a host of premium features such as an industry's first personal artificial intelligence assistant, panoramic sunroof, 6-airbags, and Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which will comprise active safety aids like Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Departure Prevention, Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Intelligent Headlamp Control (IHC), Rear Drive Assist (RDA) and Speed Assist System.
Expect the MG Astor to come at an introductory price of around Rs 12 lakh and go all the way to Rs 18-20 lakh for the top trim. It will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, Renault Duster, Maruti S-Cross, Skoda Kushaq, and the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun and 5-seater variants of Mahindra XUV700.
