Mercedes Benz has launched the AMG GLE 53 SUV-Coupe in India, priced at Rs 1.20 crore (ex-showroom). It is the first ‘53’ badged model launched in India.
Mercedes Benz AMG GLE 53: Design
The newly launched Mercedes Benz GLE 53 is having a coupe-like body style. It is also available in conventional SUV form in global markets.
The GLE 53 beautifully carries the AMG genetic gens in its design. It sports a Panamericana vertical slatted grille, muscular bumpers, 21-inch AMG-branded alloy wheels, turbo badging on front fenders, sloping rooflines, integrated spoiler at the rear, and four exhausts tips, all these elements makes this beast to stand apart in-crowd.
Moving inside, you get a similar cabin as the standard GLE aside from the piece de resistance sporty front seats with additional bolstering and three-spoke AMG steering wheel. It features dual 12.3-inch MBUX infotainment and instrument cluster, Burmester sound system, four-zone climate control, aluminium pedals, heads-up display, heated and ventilated seats with memory function and four-way lumbar support, 64 colour ambient lighting, connected car technology with remote-start function, wireless phone charger, panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate and many other premium features to lure you. Additionally, it offers two upholstery options to personalise the cabin.
Safety kit includes 9 airbags, 360-degree camera, ESP, blind-spot monitoring system, adaptive LED headlights and Active Ride Control system. It also features a sportier air suspension setup with adaptive dampers and various driving and off-roading modes as well.
The AMG GLE 53 is available in a total of eight colour options: Cavansite Blue, Obsidian Black, Polar White, Emerald Green, Brilliant Blue, Hyacinth Red, Selenite Grey, and Mojave Silver.
Powertrain
The AMG GLE 53 heart is a 3.0-litre, in-line, six-cylinder, twin-turbo petrol unit which is coupled to an EQ electric boost 48V mild-hybrid system. The engine can solely deliver a massive power output of 435PS at 6,100 rpm and 520 Nm of peak torque at 1,800-5,800 rpm. Additionally, the mild-hybrid system adds up to 22PS of power and 250Nm of torque under hard acceleration for a short duration. It also permits other functions like engine start/stop, coasting and energy recuperation.
The GLE 53 comes equipped with 4Matic all-wheel drivetrain and the power transmission duty is handled by a 9-speed automatic gearbox. Mercedes claims that it can sprint from 0-100kmph in just 5.3 seconds. Its top speed is limited to 250kmph.
