Launched on May 9, the fourth-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift has quickly become a hit, even with its higher pricing that brings it closer to the Baleno. It has already received over 40,000 bookings, and the carmaker despatched 19,393 units of the new-gen hatch to dealers last month.
Maruti has revealed that the Swift VXi and VXi(O) variants account for 60 per cent of total bookings, while the base-spec LXi contributed for 11 per cent. On the other hand, the top-spec ZXi and ZXi+ trims have contributed nearly 19 per cent to the total number of bookings.

Only 17 per cent of new Maruti Swift buyers are picking the AGS automatic variants, available from the mid-spec VXi trim onwards. Among total bookings, the Swift VXi AGS accounts for 10 per cent, while the ZXi and ZXi+ AGS variants make up 7 per cent.
Powering the new Swift is Suzuki’s new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine making 82PS of max power and 112Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox, offering a fuel efficiency of 24.8 kmpl and 25.75 kmpl, respectively. The hatch will also receive a factory-fitted CNG kit in the near future.
Currently, the new Maruti Swift is priced between Rs 6.49 – 9.64 lakh, placing it against the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and select variants of Tata Tiago.
