Maruti Suzuki Recalls 17,362 Vehicles Over Faulty Airbag Controller

Maruti Suzuki has just recalled six of its seventeen models due to a suspected defect in the airbag controller. This is the second recall from the carmaker in the last two months.

Around 17,362 units have been recalled of the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, Eeco, S-Presso, Brezza, Baleno, and Grand Vitara. All these recalled units were manufactured between December 8, 2022, and January 12, 2023.

The Airbag Control Unit detects and evaluates the severity of the accident and then triggers the appropriate restraint system. In the unfortunate event of a crash, a defective airbag controller could prevent the airbags from deploying. Keeping in mind the safety of its customers, the carmaker has also advised the owners of these vehicles not to drive them till the issue is resolved.

Maruti Suzuki’s authorised service centres will soon start contacting owners of suspected vehicles for a free inspection. And if required, the part will be replaced at no cost.
