Mahindra XUV700 Listed On Official Website, Global Unveil Expected Soon

Mahindra is all set to unveil the successor model of its iconic XUV500 SUV. Christened as XUV700, the brand has recently listed it on its official website that clearly indicates its global premiere will take place pretty soon. On arrival to India shores, it will be positioned against the 7-seater mid-sized SUVs like MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari, and the upcoming Hyundai Alcazar

The Mahindra XUV700 is likely to replace the existing XUV500 for some time. However, the brand is reportedly to bring back the XUV500 nameplate in the future as a five-seater SUV that will rival the likes of Tata Harrier, MG Hector, Hyundai Creta, and Kia Seltos

The XUV seven double ‘Oh’ will be built on an all-new W601 monocoque platform and will be bigger & more premium than the current XUV500. It is likely to get a host of segment-first features like flush type door handles, Mercedes Benz like a dual-screen setup for touchscreen infotainment & instrumentation cluster, powered driver's seat with memory function, and radar-based advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) that is likely to comprise active safety features like an autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control.

Powering the XUV700 will be either a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol or a 2.2-litre diesel engine that also does duty for the second-generation Mahindra Thar. However, in XUV700, they are likely to come in a much higher state of tune. For reference, the turbo-petrol engine makes 150PS/320Nm in Thar, whereas the diesel engine delivers 130PS/300Nm. Both engines will be offered with the option of a 6-speed manual and a torque converter automatic transmission along with an all-wheel-drivetrain (AWD) system with both diesel and petrol engines, which would be a first for this segment.
