Mahindra XUV500 W5 Bookings On Hold

Mahindra XUV500's entry-level W5 variant's booking has been put on hold due to some supply issues. Therefore, now the W7 is the most affordable variant of the XUV500 that's priced at Rs 15.13 lakh for manual and Rs 16.33 lakh for the automatic model (both prices ex-showroom Delhi), making it Rs 1.3 lakh more expensive than the W5 manual trim.

Reason for halting bookings

Currently, Mahindra is facing some supply issues of semiconductors, which are used in various electronic devices including infotainment systems. The W5 trim used to come with 6-inch monochrome infotainment (non-touchscreen unit) with radio, USB, and Bluetooth connectivity support. It was priced at Rs 13.83 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Earlier, we have also seen Thar's supply was affected by a similar kind of issue. However, orders obtained till February 2021 will be fulfilled but the brand will not take any new orders of this variant. Buyers eyeing XUV500 can now choose between three variants:  W7, W9, and W11 Optional.

Being a new base variant, the W7 will continue to offer features like projector headlamps, 17-inch steel wheels with full wheel cover, black coloured side cladding, all-wheel disc brakes, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, power-adjustable ORVM, 6-way manually adjustable driver's seat, premium fabric upholstery, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, cruise control, push-button start/stop, rain-sensing wipers, dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, etc.

Coming to the heart of the matter, the Mahindra XUV500 still uses the same BS6-compliant 2.2-litre diesel engine that generates 155PS and 360Nm, paired to 6-speed manual and torque converter automatic transmissions.

In the other news, Mahindra is gearing up to launch the next-generation versions of Scorpio and XUV500. Both the SUVs will come with a new design, new engines, more premium features and updated dimensions.
