After tons of leaks and spy shots, Mahindra has finally launched the rear-wheel drive (RWD) 4×2 variants of the Thar off-roader, with prices starting from Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom India). It will be available in both petrol and diesel guises. While the petrol engine is the same 2-litre turbocharged unit, a new 1.5-litre diesel engine has been introduced for the RWD variants. Mahindra has stated that deliveries of these new RWD variants will start from January 14, 2023.

As mentioned above, Mahindra has offered the RWD variants of Thar with a new 1.5-litre diesel engine that makes 118PS of maximum power and 300Nm of peak torque. It comes only with a 6-speed manual gearbox. It’s range-topping LX variant, however, can also be had with the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine (152PS/ up to 320Nm), coupled with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The same gasoline mill can also be paired with the 4×4 variants, along with the 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine option (130PS/300Nm).
New Colours Introduced
Taking this opportunity, Mahindra has also introduced two new colour options for the Thar: Everest White and Blazing Bronze. These new shades will be offered with the existing colour palette that includes Aqua Marine, Galaxy Grey, Rocky Beige, Mystic Copper, Red Rage and Napoli Black.
