India’s leading EV manufacturer, Tata Motors, has given a facelift update to one of its best-selling models, the Punch EV. This is the first major update for this micro-SUV, featuring subtle styling changes, new features and a whole new battery pack that also increases its range over the previous model.

The 2026 Punch EV will now also be offered with BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service), with prices starting from Rs 6.49 lakh (ex-showroom), plus the battery rental of Rs 2.6 per km.

2026 Tata Punch Exterior Design

  • At first glance, the 2026 Tata Punch looks much cleaner and more premium than the outgoing model.
  • Upfront, the EV gets a redesigned bumper with a larger air dam and a bigger triangular-shaped headlamp cluster with black surrounds, giving the SUV a more commanding look.
  • While it retains the Y-shaped LED DRLs, the connected LED strip has now been removed.

  • From the sides, the silhouette remains unchanged, but it now gets the “Tata.ev” badge on the front doors.
  • Towards the rear, it borrows the connected LED tail lamp setup from the recently updated ICE-powered Punch, along with a revised bumper that features a faux silver skid plate, adding a fresh touch.

Numbers That Matter

The Punch EV measures 3880mm in length, 1742mm in width, 1622mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2445mm, a ground clearance of 195mm (+5mm) and a water wading capacity of 450mm. The car has a kerb weight of up to 1360kg.

2026 Tata Punch Interior Design and New Features

The cabin design and layout are largely similar to the outgoing model, albeit with a host of elements that give it a fresh appearance. These include updated upholstery, a revised cabin theme, and high-beam assist, which is essentially a warning indicator to encourage appropriate road behaviour.

Besides, features like mood lights, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Harman Kardon sound system, cooled illuminated glovebox, rain-sensing wipers, auto-dimming IRVM, automatic AC, air purifier, ventilated front seats, wireless charger, single-pane sunroof, three driving modes, tyre pressure monitoring system, six airbags as standard, ESC, electronic parking brake with auto-hold, hill hold assist, a 360-degree camera with blind-view monitor, and rear parking sensors, have been retained from the outgoing model.

Bigger Battery Pack, More Range

  • The facelifted Punch EV comes equipped with a bigger 40 kWh LPF battery pack, paired with a front-axle-mounted electric motor, offering a MIDC-certified range of 468 km (real-world range around 355km) on a single charge.
  • What’s more interesting is that Tata is offering a lifetime warranty on this new battery pack, with unlimited-kilometre coverage, applicable to first owners.
  • The car now also features a new 6-in-1 e-Drive system, which integrates multiple components into a single compact unit. This results in 50% more compact packaging, 28% lower weight, and delivers up to 6% better overall performance.
  • The battery of the micro SUV can be charged from 20-80% in just 26 mins using a 65kW DC fast charger. With this, it can offer up to 135 km of range in just 15 mins of charging.
  • This new battery pack is offered alongside a 30 kWh unit.
  • Powering the Punch EV is also a new 129PS electric motor, which can accelerate the micro-SUV from 0-100 kmph in 9 seconds.
