Mahindra Thar Earth Edition – All You Need To Know About

Mahindra Thar has recently received a new special edition variant called the “Earth Edition”, inspired by the Thar desert. Based on the LX Hard-Top variant, it is available with both petrol and diesel powertrains. If you’re considering investing in Mahindra’s off-road vehicle, here’s everything you need to know about this special edition model.

Mahindra has set the pricing for the Thar’s Special Edition at a flat premium of around Rs 40,00 over the regular LX Hard-Top variant. For this added premium, the Earth Edition gets a host of cosmetic enhancements both inside and outside: –

  • A new Satin Matte Beige exterior shade named ‘Desert Fury’. 
  • Desert Fury-coloured grille.
  • Desert Fury coloured inserts in the 18-inch graphite-finished alloy wheels and on the side mirrors.
  • Desert dune-inspired decals on the doors.
  • Exclusive ‘Earth Edition’ badging on the B-pillars.
  • Matte-black finish for other badges.
  • A unique Thar Earth-branded VIN plate is on the dashboard.
  • Desert Fury-colored highlights around the AC vents, in the centre console, and on the door panels and steering wheel.
  • New dual-tone brown-&-desert beige leather upholstery with dune-like embossing on the headrests.
  • Optional accessories finished in Deser beige: Front armrest, rear armrest, 7D floor mats, and comfort kit with dune-like embossing.

Are There Any Feature Changes?

On the features front, the Thar Desert Edition remains unchanged. It continues to come with the same set of equipment as the regular model, including a moulded side step, tailgate-mounted spare wheel, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, 6-speakers, coloured MID, height-adjustable driver’s seat, cruise control, tilt adjustable steering, adjustable headrests, remote keyless entry, day/night IRVM, tyre pressure monitoring system, tyre direction monitoring system, rear parking sensors, ESP with roll-over mitigation, hill hold & descent assist, brake assist, dual-front airbags, ISOFIX anchors and more.

What Powers The Earth Edition?

Mahindra offers the Thar Earth Edition with the SUV’s 2.2-litre diesel (132PS/300Nm) and 2-litre petrol engine (152PS/300Nm) options, both with 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission options, and a 4×4 drivetrain as standard.

The regular Thar also offers a smaller 1.5-litre diesel engine and RWD drivetrain option, neither of which is available with the Earth Edition.
