The 5 door Mahindra Thar is under testing for quite some time now. While its official unveil date is yet to be revealed, reports are suggesting that it might be revealed on August 15 in South Africa. However, its launch will take place in early 2024.
- For those who aren’t aware, the 5 door Thar is essentially a longer wheelbase version of the existing Thar which comes in a 3-door avatar and has a wheelbase of 2,450mm.
- Going by the tons of spy shots, the 5-door Thar will look largely similar to its smaller counterpart save for the extra pair of doors.
- Reports are also suggesting that the SUV will get LED fog lamps and a single-pane electric sunroof.
- The interior of the SUV is yet to be seen; however, it is expected to retain similarities to its smaller counterparts.

- Beneath the hood, Mahindra will likely equip the 5-door Thar with both 2-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engine options, albeit with different tuning for improved performance.
- While it’s not official, it is expected to be offered with both RWD and 4WD options.
- Once launched, it will go up against the Maruti Suzuki Jimny and the upcoming 5-door Force Gurkha.
