Mahindra Scorpio N-based Pickup Truck Likely To Be Called Scorpio X

Last year, the Mahindra Scorpio N-based Global Pik Up made its global debut in concept avatar in South Africa. Later, the carmaker filed a design patent for the Scorpio N-based pickup. And now, the Indian SUVmaker has registered the “Scorpio X” trademark, which is expected to be used for the production-ready Mahindra Global Pik Up truck. In addition to the Scorpio X, Mahindra has also trademarked several other names, including Scorpio K, Scorpio L, Scorpio M, and Scorpio Z.

Rapid Insight Into The Mahindra Global Pik Up (Scorpio X)

Designed at Mahindra India Design Studio (MIDS), the new Mahindra Global Pik-Up concept exudes ruggedness and muscularity. It shares design similarities with the Scorpio N SUV, especially in its front design, showcasing LED headlamps, hood, fenders, and front doors reminiscent of its SUV counterpart. The distinctive features include a massive bash plate, tow hooks in striking red, and a bold blacked-out grille positioned above the bash plate.

Adding to its robust appeal, the Pik-Up boasts a roof rack with a broad LED light bar and a snorkel for enhanced water-wading capability. Notable design elements include steel skid plates at both ends, lower body cladding, vertically stacked LED fog lamps, dual-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in off-road tyres, and LED taillamps with pixel-like design details.

In terms of features, the pickup truck will be equipped with 5G connectivity, connected car technology, semi-automatic parking, a sunroof, LEVEL-2 ADAS active safety tech, and Trailer Sway Mitigation (part of the electronic stability control, which detects trailer swaying and intervenes using ESP to stabilize the trailer’s movement).

Powertrain Options

The upcoming Scorpio N-based pickup truck will be powered by the gen-2 mHawk diesel engine, paired with either a 6-speed manual or an Aisin-sourced 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. It will also benefit from shift-on-fly 4×4 capabilities and four driving modes – Normal, Sand, Grass-Gravel-Snow and Mud-Rut.

When It Will Be Launched?

Reports suggest that the potential pickup model might make its way to India by 2026.
