Maruti Suzuki Fronx Safety Rating – Japan NCAP Crash Test Results

  • In the crash tests, the Fronx performed well across the board.
  • During the full frontal collision test, it was driven straight into a barrier at 50km/hr to simulate a head-on crash, and it secured a level-5 rating.
  • During the offset frontal crash test, it managed to keep the passenger cabin intact and scored 4 out of 5, with 21.08 out of 24 points. However, the Fronx received a negative score of -2.12 in the offset test’s compatibility section, which measures the damage it could cause to other vehicles.
  • In the side impact test at 55 kmph, the curtain airbags deployed properly, helping the car secure a Level 5 rating.
  • The rear-end crash tests gave the driver and co-driver seats a Level 4 rating for whiplash protection.
  • For pedestrian safety, the Fronx scored Level 3 for head protection and a perfect Level 5 for leg protection.
  • It also performed very well in the Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) test for moving pedestrians, earning a Level 5 rating. In the AEB intersection test, however, it only managed a Level 3 rating.
  • The car scored Level 4 in both the high-performance headlights test and the pedal misapplication prevention test.
  • The lane departure prevention system performed flawlessly and received full marks.

Overall, the Fronx offers solid crash protection and advanced safety tech performance, especially in frontal, side, and AEB pedestrian scenarios. It could still improve in intersection safety and minimise impact on other vehicles.
