KTM 390 Adventure vs KTM 390 Adventure X: Difference Explained

In order to make the 390 Adventure available to a wider section of the audience, KTM has recently introduced its new entry-level X variant at Rs 2,80,652 (ex-showroom Delhi), making it Rs 58,094 cheaper than the standard version. This significant price gap results in a host of differences between the two trims. Here are the details: –

Riding Aids

The two versions of the KTM 390 Adventure share a common powertrain, which consists of a 373.2cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine (producing 43.5PS/37Nm) and a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. While both trims offer switchable ABS with off-road modes, the range-topping standard variant alone boasts additional electronic riding aids like cornering ABS, traction control, a bi-directional quick-shifter, and two-level riding mode.

Instrument Cluster

  • Unlike the standard model which gets a TFT-colored display, the 390 Adventure X comes with a 5-inch, grayscale LCD unit (similar to the 250 Adventure).
  • The base-spec variant also misses out on Bluetooth connectivity support.

Suspensions

In contrast to the regular variant’s WP APEX USD open-cartridge fork, KTM has equipped the 390 Adventure X with WP APEX USD big-piston forks. Both have a fixed setting and provide wheel travel of 170mm.

Tyres

The alloy wheels of the 390 Adventure X are fitted with MRF MoGrip Meteor tires, which are presumably a more economical choice than the Metzeler Tourance tires found on the standard model.
