Kia India is all set to unveil its second compact SUV after the Sonet, the Syros, on December 19. Its launch will take place in January 2025. The brand will position itself between Sonet and Seltos in its portfolio.
Kia Syros – What To Expect?
Kia has been teasing the Syros over the past few weeks, building anticipation for its arrival. It will feature a boxy silhouette, a flat roof, and upright profiles, all to maximise the cabin space and ensure high practicality. All this reminds us of the Skoda Yeti. Bits like 3-pod LED headlights with vertical DRLs and big window panels seem to be taking inspiration from the recently launched Kia EV9 and Carnival Limousine.
The Syros will be a 5-seater offering. Kia claims the Syros will get amenities like the Carnival Limousine. We expect it will offer individual rear seats with extendable thigh support, ventilation function, and window sunshades to enhance passenger comfort. It could also get features like dual-zone climate control, rear AC vents, fast type-C charging ports, a panoramic sunroof, a premium BOSE sound system, twin connected displays, a wireless charger and a powered driver’s seat.
Its safety net could comprise six airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, electronic stability control, front & rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat anchors, hill hold assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, a 360-degree camera and ADAS suite.
Expected Powertrains, Price and Rivals
We expect Kia to offer the Syros with petrol and diesel engine options from the Sonet and Seltos before it joins the EV lineup in the future.
Kia India aims to position the Syros as a distinctive entry in the crowded compact SUV market, so it won’t have any direct competitors in the market. Expect Kia to price it from around Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom).
