Kia India has announced a recall for the EV6 crossover over a potential issue in the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU). As per the carmaker, the recall affected 1138 units of the Kia EV6, manufactured between March 3, 2022, and April 14, 2023.
Earlier, the Hyundai INONIQ 5 was also affected by the same issue.
Kia EV6 owners are advised to visit their nearest authorized dealership for inspection. The company will also contact affected vehicle owners. If a fault is detected, the part will be replaced at no extra cost.
What is IICU?
The Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) is a crucial component that handles the charging process. It integrates various functions related to charging, such as converting AC to DC power for the battery and ensuring efficient, safe charging cycles. It also communicates with charging stations and monitors battery health to prevent overcharging and overheating. It also enables V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) charging.
