Over 1700 Units of Hyundai IONIQ 5 Recalled

The Hyundai IONIQ 5 has been recalled over a potential issue with the Integrated Charging Control Unit (IICU). Over 1700 units, manufactured from its launch until April 2024, are affected by this recall.

Hyundai has announced that it will soon start contacting the owners of affected customers to schedule inspections and fix the issue at no cost.

What is IICU?

The Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) is a crucial component that handles the charging process. It integrates various functions related to charging, such as converting AC to DC power for the battery and ensuring efficient, safe charging cycles. It also communicates with charging stations and monitors battery health to prevent overcharging and overheating. It also enables V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) charging.
