Last month, we reported that JSW Motors will independently launch its first car in India around the festive season this year. Ahead of its debut, the brand has teased its first product through an advertisement inviting applications from prospective dealer partners. The model is likely to be based on the Jetour T2 plug-in-hybrid SUV.
For those unaware, the Jetour is a marque of Chery Automobile, a Chinese brand that operates in several global markets outside China, including the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia, and Latin America.

What Do The Teaser Image Reveal?
The teaser reveals the front profile of the upcoming SUV from JSW Motors, featuring an upright stance with a countered bonnet and dual horizontal LED strips within a circular housing and pixel-shaped LED fog lamps, all of which are identical to the Jetour T2. However, the overall shape of the side mirrors looks different from that of its donor model.
What Else Do We Know About The Upcoming JSW SUV?
As we reported earlier, JSW Motors is expected to commence the local assembly of this upcoming SUV by August this year, with localisation levels targeted to reach up to 80% by October, covering key components like the battery pack, motor, body structure, and interior components.
Although not officially confirmed, the SUV is likely to be powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, paired with a plug-in-hybrid setup and a 26.7kWh battery pack, which has an NEDC-certified all-electric range of 139km.
Globally, the Jetour T2 also comes in an all-electric version; however, it is unlikely to be introduced in India in the initial stage.
The brand aims to price its first product in the Rs 15 lakh to Rs 30 lakh range. However, the final pricing and positioning in India will depend on the extent of localisation levels and the variant distribution. Higher localisation could help the company keep costs in check and price the SUV more aggressively.
