Jeep India To Unveil 5th-Gen Grand Cherokee In November 2022

Jeep India has released a teaser video of the 5th-generation Grand Cherokee flagship SUV that will be launched in November 2022. It will be Jeep’s fourth model in India after the Compass, Meridian and Wrangler. It is likely to be brought to our shores as a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) model that will be assembled at the brand’s Ranjangaon facility.

While the full-blown specifications and features list of the upcoming Jeep Grand Cherokee is yet to be revealed, the carmaker has already stated that it will be equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). So, expect it to comprise active safety features like forward collision avoidance assist, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear-cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, etc.

Revealed in the teaser, the SUV will also equip multiple displays on the dashboard, including a digital driver’s screen, a large 10.1-inch touchscreen central display, and another dedicated touchscreen infotainment on the co-driver side. However, the latter could be an optional unit.

Aside from that, the Grand Cherokee will also get connected car technology with 24×7 assistance, a head-up display, a 19-speaker McIntosh sound system, a wireless phone charger, front-powered seats with ventilation & memory-adjustment functions, a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, powered tailgate, multi-zone climate control, electronic parking brakes and much more.

Expected Powertrain

Powering the Jeep Grand Cherokee could be a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox driving all four wheels of the SUV. It is also likely to benefit from Jeep’s Selec Terrain off-road management system that comprises various modes like Auto, Sport, Mud/Sand and Snow.

Expected Price and Rivals

Expect the Jeep to price the Grand Cherokee from around Rs 85 lakh (ex-showroom), pitting it against the likes of the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE, Volvo XC90, and Audi Q7.
